The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Adriano Soares scored 0-1 in the 2nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Falcão Severo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Falcão Severo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Soares in the 13th minute of play. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Ronaldinho Andrade couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 21st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for TAQUARI FC. In the 23rd minute, Adriano Soares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Falcão Severo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Falcão Severo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriano Soares in the 26th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adriano Soares in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Falcão Severo saved Clube Audax Metropolitano from getting behind. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Clube Audax Metropolitano's goalkeeper Falcão Severo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sílvio Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fellipe Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Clube Audax Metropolitano's Miguel Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half TAQUARI FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sílvio Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Fontes in the 51st minute of play. Clube Audax Metropolitano were furious when Alfredão Loyola was red carded, 53 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. If Adriano Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Claudinho Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. TAQUARI FC's Valdir Peres got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Clube Audax Metropolitano made a substitution. Celso Branco replaced Claudinho Teixeira. Bruninho Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falcão Severo having to interfere. The supporters of Clube Audax Metropolitano booed when TAQUARI FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jano Motta didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Celso Branco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sílvio Zonta. TAQUARI FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Celso Branco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The supporters of Clube Audax Metropolitano booed when TAQUARI FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdir Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd match minute, TAQUARI FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdir Peres to maneuver through the defense. Wiliam Martins took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sílvio Zonta. TAQUARI FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sílvio Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Branco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iuri Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Germano Gerber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Sílvio Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd match minute, TAQUARI FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iuri Simões to maneuver through the defense. The TAQUARI FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Clube Audax Metropolitano from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
