Jailson de Senna received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nelsinho Mendes came out and tried to block the shot, but Jailson de Senna slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 12th minute. After a rather tough play, Itajaí Football Club's Cléber Rezende got a free kick in the 14th minute. SRP-Laguna's Nelsinho Mendes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save SRP-Laguna from getting a goal against them. 27 minutes into the match, SRP-Laguna's goal looked a bit too open when Jailson de Senna came free, but Nelsinho Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Valdomiro Couto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nelsinho Mendes. SRP-Laguna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdomiro Couto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. The supporters of Itajaí Football Club booed when SRP-Laguna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeu Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdomiro Couto got free with Nelsinho Mendes in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nelsinho Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jailson de Senna in the 45th minute of play. SRP-Laguna's Nelsinho Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jailson de Senna in the 47th minute of play.

52 minutes into the game, Itajaí Football Club's Valdomiro Couto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nelsinho Mendes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Nelsinho Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdomiro Couto in the 82nd minute of the match. If Valdomiro Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Chiquinho Chaves fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SRP-Laguna's protests and gave Chiquinho Chaves a yellow card for diving instead. The audience cheered when Paulo Mattos's long shot passed Nelsinho Mendes's right side. It was 11-1, 90 minutes into the match. Itajaí Football Club walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
