Zebus FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Giuseppe Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Soares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Geraldo Gomes hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Breguete FC's Júlio Soares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geraldo Gomes in the 11th minute of play. After 14 minutes of play, Zebus FC's Geraldo Gomes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Júlio Soares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 23rd minute, Adriano Leite made a precise shot to the right of Oséias Vides. Zebus FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 28th minute, Geraldo Gomes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zebus FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Júlio Soares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Godoi in the 35th minute of play. Júlio Soares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geraldo Gomes in the 43rd minute of the match. The coaching staff of Breguete FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Robinho Leal had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 53rd minute, Robinho Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zebus FC's Luís Guilherme Novaes was responsible for 1-4 with a brilliant performance in the 54th minute when he, by himself, got past the opponents defense and with a quick shot sent the ball into the goal to the left of Júlio Soares. Oséias Vides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Vidal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the game, Giuseppe Godoi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Júlio Soares. Giuseppe Godoi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. Jerônimo de Queirós received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Júlio Soares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Zebus FC booed when Breguete FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball.
