An unexpectedly hard shot by Cafu Toledo in the 18th minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Patrick Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 minutes, Narciso Bueno made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Atlético Capixaba's Patrick Teles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. But to his dismay, Narciso Bueno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. When Marcel Gerber fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Scarlet Speedster's protests and gave Marcel Gerber a yellow card for diving instead. After some careless play in the Atlético Capixaba defense, Cafu Toledo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrick Teles. The Atlético Capixaba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick Teles should have stopped the shot. In the 40th play minute Narciso Bueno came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Patrick Teles. 4-0. The Atlético Capixaba fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mete Gol was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Scarlet Speedster's goalkeeper Umberto de Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mete Gol. Hortêncio Madureira struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Umberto de Salles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Capixaba. The Atlético Capixaba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick Teles should have stopped the shot. Atlético Capixaba made a substitution. Dieguinho Barros replaced Aílton Branco. Augusto Branco hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Mete Gol managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Capixaba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mete Gol was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Francisco Rosado kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Umberto de Salles. That made the score 5-2 in the 80 minute of play. 84 minutes into the game, Mete Gol cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-3. Umberto de Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 88 minutes into the match, Atlético Capixaba's goal looked a bit too open when Cafu Toledo came free, but Patrick Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Scarlet Speedster booed when Atlético Capixaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Rosado didn't get a good kick on the ball.
