Marcelo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Villa Verde FC's Jacinto Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovani Borges in the 17th minute of play. When Richard Esteves fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Villa Verde FC's protests and gave Richard Esteves a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th match minute, Villa Verde FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Esteves to maneuver through the defense.
