The MINEIROS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serginho Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Walmir Leal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benê Amorim in the 26th minute of the match. Durval Campidelis hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Primatas FC's zone, Benê Amorim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmir Leal came out of the goal and Benê Amorim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Primatas FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Juninho Quintal hit a great ball. Baltazar Nascimento's late challenge caught a MINEIROS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Baltazar Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Primatas FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Baltazar Nascimento hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nando Leão got free with Walmir Leal in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Nilson de Souza fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MINEIROS's protests and gave Nilson de Souza a yellow card for diving instead. Nilson de Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match.
