Benê da Costa hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, MUSHIBA FC's Benê da Costa got a free kick in the 9th minute. Severino Marquezs short, quick shot in the 13thth minute got Mauro de Salles to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 20th minute of the match Benê da Costa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mauro de Salles showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severino Marquez got free with Mauro de Salles in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Didi Meira hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Mauro de Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Marquez in the 35th minute of play. After 36 minutes of play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Paulo Renato Souza made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chiquinho do Nascimento was left in no man's land by his defense there! MUSHIBA FC's attentive Benê da Costa managed to snatch the ball when Dudu Queiroz made a throw-in in the 41st minute of the game. Anselmo Batista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

MUSHIBA FC's Chiquinho do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizinho Neves in the 51st minute of play. Severino Marquez might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mauro de Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Severino Marquez ran back to his position shaking his head. Mauro de Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. In the 59th minute, Gil Meira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chiquinho do Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jailson de Carvalho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Paulo Renato Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. MUSHIBA FC's Régis Mineiro was substituted for Fernandão Schmidt. The supporters of MUSHIBA FC booed when Nova Iguaçu MZFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 76th minute, Severino Marquez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MUSHIBA FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Deivid Queirós was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 81 minutes into the match. After 80 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Nova Iguaçu MZFC! Severino Marquez shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mauro de Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Jailson de Carvalho got a free kick in the 90th minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
