The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Saul Montez took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Fermin Santos to make any attempt to save it. Atlético Nacional's Fermin Santos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Nacional from getting a goal against them. In the 11th minute Clodoveo Llanos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fermin Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eleuterio Efren charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eleuterio Efren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 12th minute, Eleuterio Efren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute, Saul Montez made a precise shot to the right of Fermin Santos. Atlético Nacional's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 42nd match minute, Lyons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Enol to maneuver through the defense. In the 43rd minute of the match Eleuterio Efren sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victoriano Ferran skillfully saved the ball. Jaime Miliano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Fermin Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Godofredo Manni made a kick off. Victoriano Ferran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eleuterio Efren, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 52nd minute, Saverio Jaen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 53 minutes, Godofredo Manni managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Nacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Godofredo Manni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Victoriano Ferran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eleuterio Efren in the 89th minute of play. Lyons's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
