After a rather tough play, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Constantino Bertol got a free kick in the 6th minute. CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Hector Jakes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, El Millo de Haedo's Tomás Rico got a free kick in the 8th minute. Antonio Carrizo came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Ismael Laurentzi. But to his dismay, Ismael Laurentzi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ignacio Montrell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 16thth minute, Hector Jakes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 16 minutes into the game, Ignacio Montrell lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Hector Jakes. CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's Hector Jakes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE from getting a goal against them. Isidro Inautzi charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Isidro Inautzi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes El Millo de Haedo got a freekick which was hit by Isidro Inautzi. 27 minutes into the game, Ramiro Urbez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Millo de Haedo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE the free kick. The supporters of CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE booed when El Millo de Haedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Urbez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Ismael Laurentzi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antonio Carrizo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Hector Jakes was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Esteve Valiente. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ignacio Montrell was the one to do the kick off. Hector Jakes came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by El Millo de Haedo's Ignacio Montrell. But to his dismay, Ignacio Montrell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. In the 61st minute of the match Esteve Valiente shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hector Jakes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 62 minutes into the match, El Millo de Haedo's goalkeeper Antonio Carrizo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reynaldo Elodio. In the 64th minute, Reynaldo Elodio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Antonio Carrizo. The goal made the score 2-4. Reynaldo Elodio took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Antonio Carrizo. Antonio Carrizo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-5. In the 73rd match minute, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Constantino Bertol to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute Ignacio Montrell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hector Jakes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 80 minutes into the match, CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's goal looked a bit too open when Matias Magdaleno came free, but Hector Jakes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hector Jakes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amancio Pirmin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amancio Pirmin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, El Millo de Haedo's Ramiro Urbez got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 96th minute, Benicio Bibiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. CLUB ATLETICO RIVER PLATE's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
