Eloy Idacio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amancio Magdaleno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Godfredo Sendoa hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Raul Porfirio's late challenge caught a NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raul Porfirio helped the player get up and apologised. Raul Porfirio kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. If Artemio Goiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eloy Idacio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amancio Magdaleno in the 36th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Adrian Abecia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo G⦕⩙⦖'s zone, Artemio Goiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eloy Idacio came out of the goal and Artemio Goiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Amancio Magdaleno to strike the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Artemio Goiz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eloy Idacio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. In the 60th minute, Amancio Magdaleno ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eloy Idacio was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. If Amancio Magdaleno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Artemio Goiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 68th play minutes Artemio Goiz shot 4-0, a short shot which went by Eloy Idacio and just under the crossbar into goal. After 71 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Ignazio. Tom Misaki kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Amancio Magdaleno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eloy Idacio having to interfere. When Romulo Haimar fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo G⦕⩙⦖'s protests and gave Romulo Haimar a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of NEWELL´S OLD BOYS booed when Deportivo G⦕⩙⦖ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romulo Haimar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 82 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Frascuelo. A hard shot 83 in the game by Damaso Sancho from a close distance when the talented Ramon Calvino managed to make a qualified save. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's players were relieved. After some careless play in the Deportivo G⦕⩙⦖ defense, Artemio Goiz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eloy Idacio. The Deportivo G⦕⩙⦖ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eloy Idacio should have stopped the shot. In the 89th minute, Amancio Magdaleno left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. There was no doubt that NEWELL´S OLD BOYS were the better team. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
