In the 30th minute Jose Emesto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Neron saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Israel Kusko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Cordarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Balvanera's zone, Augusto Nuno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abel Neron came out of the goal and Augusto Nuno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Israel Kusko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eusebio Lehoi's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Leandro Cordarin struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
