The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 30th minute Cayetano Borras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chucho Muñoa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chucho Muñoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belmiro Hoyuelos in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Matias Zuñiga dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Chucho Muñoa, 4-0. Waldir Castrillon came free with the goalkeeper in the 47th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Chucho Muñoa could save by the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodas Lamadrid made a kick off. 59 minutes into the match, Loja S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cayetano Borras came free, but Chucho Muñoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
