An unexpectedly hard shot by Arsenio Ceraso in the 20th minute of play forced Toqui Fc's goalkeeper Angelillo Barnard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Toqui Fc's Demesio Montesinos seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Demesio Montesinos the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Toqui Fc protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Demesio Montesinos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 23rd minute, one of Toqui Fc:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Toqui Fc. Cordarius Urruchi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Higinio Martos, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Mauricio Clas charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mauricio Clas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 37 minutes into the match, Mingo Cercalde had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Angelillo Barnard. Toqui Fc's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mingo Cercalde was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Alianza Trujillo were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Alianza Trujillo booed when Toqui Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipo Yete didn't get a good kick on the ball. Víctor Javier Bernal kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Toqui Fc made a substitution. Angelo Arce replaced Haroldo Mahns.
