Santos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Real Ayuntamiento CF the free kick. The supporters of Real Ayuntamiento CF booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sherwood Franks didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vicente Berto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Desmond Rowell in the 9th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Maximo Cai notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Santos FC's Rusty Little. Rusty Little was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Basilio Erramun fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Ayuntamiento CF's protests and gave Basilio Erramun a yellow card for diving instead. After 14 played minutes Real Ayuntamiento CF got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Erramun. Vinicio Lopes's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vinicio Lopes helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Real Ayuntamiento CF's Vinicio Lopes got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 27th match minute, Santos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans Ladd to maneuver through the defense. Rusty Little showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinicio Lopes in the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute Anacleto Beat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rusty Little saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 played minutes Real Ayuntamiento CF got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Erramun. After 34 played minutes Real Ayuntamiento CF got a freekick which was hit by Basilio Erramun. Vicente Berto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Desmond Rowell in the 35th minute of the match. Vicente Berto was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Victor Hess capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Victor Hess really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. 41 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anacleto Beat came free, but Rusty Little reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Santos FC's Victor Hess slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Vicente Berto. That made the score 2-1 after 45 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Victor Hess made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lawrence Smart in the 51st minute of play forced Real Ayuntamiento CF's goalkeeper Vicente Berto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Real Ayuntamiento CF's Vinicio Lopes got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Anacleto Beat put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rusty Little. Rusty Little made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anacleto Beat in the 63rd minute of play. After 73 played minutes Real Ayuntamiento CF got a freekick which was hit by Honorio Cordeara. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Hess in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vicente Berto saved Real Ayuntamiento CF from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Hess in the 78th minute of play forced Real Ayuntamiento CF's goalkeeper Vicente Berto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Real Ayuntamiento CF's Claudio Gervaso got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Desmond Rowell, 83 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 88th minute, Federico Lobo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
