After 22 played minutes American Top Team got a freekick which was hit by Winford Craig. 22 minutes into the match, FC Lëtzebuerg's Severo Damario broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. If Serdar Gulson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. American Top Team's Shawn Ashby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serdar Gulson in the 29th minute of play. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Serdar Gulson sped through American Top Team's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Shawn Ashby. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Winford Craig fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored American Top Team's protests and gave Winford Craig a yellow card for diving instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Lëtzebuerg had played much better football throughout.
