In the 13th minute, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edwin van der Sar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Godoi got free with Edwin van der Sar in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Palestra do Interior's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hudson Sergipano in the 19th minute. It was a well-played corner which Ulises Dominguez managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. A sloppy throw-in by Akseli Ilola in the 25th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Palestra do Interior's 吴洲坚. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo Godoi got free with Edwin van der Sar in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 33 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's Paulo Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edwin van der Sar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Allan Varela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdemar Kuoppala, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Paulo Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 83rd minute, Vitório Lago ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edwin van der Sar was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
