Sabin Pânzaru didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Artur Wichniarek went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. When Osvaldinho Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Aquile Azzurre's protests and gave Osvaldinho Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes FC Aquile Azzurre got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho Queirós. FC Aquile Azzurre's Sabin Pânzaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Wichniarek in the 13th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Hammarby Sjöstad's Hannes Kempenaerts got a free kick in the 17th minute. After a defensive mix-up in FC Hammarby Sjöstad's zone, Dinç Dede stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sixten Tunander came out of the goal and Dinç Dede tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute Elia Pasin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sixten Tunander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sixten Tunander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dinç Dede in the 24th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Sabin Pânzaru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artur Wichniarek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Artur Wichniarek recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FC Hammarby Sjöstad's Sixten Tunander proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save FC Hammarby Sjöstad from getting a goal against them. 65 minutes into the match, FC Hammarby Sjöstad's Ozan Heybetli sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sabin Pânzaru narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Aquile Azzurre's João Francisco Correia was substituted for Wu Fei. The corner led FC Hammarby Sjöstad's Ozan Heybetli to a score. 2-0 in the 68th minute. 74 minutes into the match, Carlo Borgatello dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sixten Tunander, 2-1. Sixten Tunander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlo Borgatello in the 91st minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC Aquile Azzurre eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
