After a defensive mix-up in Unión y Progreso Tandil's zone, Brock Friend stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hernan Firme came out of the goal and Brock Friend tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Unión y Progreso Tandil booed when Cruzeiro Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique de Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Unión y Progreso Tandil's goalkeeper Hernan Firme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 15 minutes, Duarte Félix made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Unión y Progreso Tandil's Hernan Firme tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Arthur Bufi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Brun in the 18th minute of play. Duarte Félix fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hernan Firme having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Brock Friend got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Unión y Progreso Tandil's goal looked a bit too open when Brock Friend came free, but Hernan Firme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Unión y Progreso Tandil's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Oswaldo Maranhense was slow to take the kick. During this time Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's players had a chance to rest. In the 37thth minute of the game Brock Friend who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Unión y Progreso Tandil's Hernan Firme was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Arthur Bufi got control of the ball when Daniel Brun tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gong Fan kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. 48 minutes into the match, Duarte Félix had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hernan Firme. Unión y Progreso Tandil's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Duarte Félix was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.

Brock Friend could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Hernan Firme made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Elixio in the 54th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Arthur Bufi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube booed when Unión y Progreso Tandil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rene Erlantz didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Rene Erlantz in the 83rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Gong Fan. Enrique de Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Arthur Bufi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Bermudo in the 86th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Rogério Teixeira got a free kick in the 87th minute. After 88 played minutes Cruzeiro Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Paulo Fantini. In the 91st minute Daniel Brun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Bufi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
