Olaf Geiger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Bottone in the 7th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Alexander Bottone left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The A.S. Udinese fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 12th minute Iosif Vornic shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Alexander Bottone's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olaf Geiger was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexander Bottone in the 16th minute of play forced Fire Devils's goalkeeper Olaf Geiger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Alexander Bottone managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.S. Udinese's supporters rose to their feet, but Alexander Bottone was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olaf Geiger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alvaro Rotili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 22nd minute of the match. A.S. Udinese's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alberigo Di Franco in the 25th minute. Alexander Bottone made a great header on A.S. Udinese's corner, it was just that Fire Devils's Olaf Geiger managed to reach the ball for a save. Olaf Geiger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexander Bottone's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Olaf Geiger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Bottone in the 30th minute of the match. Olaf Geiger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Bottone, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Olaf Geiger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexander Bottone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.
The wind increased when Edmílson Gaúcho made the kick off in the second half. A.S. Udinese's Cristiano Paolucci was substituted for Augusto Clemente. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Alexander Bottone managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.S. Olaf Geiger came out of the goal and Merexildo Oliveras tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alexander Bottone fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olaf Geiger having to interfere. Olaf Geiger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Bottone, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Olaf Geiger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Merexildo Oliveras in the 86th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmílson Gaúcho in the 90th minute of play forced A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Alvaro Rotili to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvaro Rotili took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmílson Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 92 minutes, Sven-Arne Bengtsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fire Devils and the A.S. Udinese players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Fire Devils getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Sven-Arne Bengtsson hit a great ball. Fire Devils's Edmílson Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edmílson Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alvaro Rotili having to interfere. The Fire Devils supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching A.S. Udinese's performance. The match ended with a win for A.S. Udinese.
