With a couple of smart ball manuevers Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trond Bjørheim saved Dum Dum Boys Athletics from getting behind. In the 10th minute, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Ladislao Gerazan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Trond Bjørheim. Trond Bjørheim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Dum Dum Boys Athletics's zone, Horaţiu Măcrinici stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trond Bjørheim came out of the goal and Horaţiu Măcrinici tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cai Sæter lost his temper 16 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 17th minute Luiz Fábio de Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trond Bjørheim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trond Bjørheim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horaţiu Măcrinici in the 19th minute of play.
