With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mauro Sarmento in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Santiago Blanco saved Racing Club from getting behind. 9 minutes into the match, Lino Fidencio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Doni Seco. Castanheiro SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lino Fidencio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Santiago Blanco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júnior Alagoano went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 15th minute, Júnior Alagoano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Santiago Blanco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro Sarmento in the 18th minute of the match. Lino Fidencio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Doni Seco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Castanheiro SC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Uriel Manex was slow to take the kick. During this time Racing Club's players had a chance to rest. Ulisses Senna's late challenge caught a Racing Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ulisses Senna helped the player get up and apologised. Ulisses Senna hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. The supporters of Racing Club booed when Castanheiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Bezerra hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. When Uriel Manex came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Racing Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Uriel Manex couldn't finish the play. In the 44thth minute of the game Mauro Sarmento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Santiago Blanco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 47th minute Lino Fidencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doni Seco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Castanheiro SC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mauro Sarmento to make the kick off. Santiago Blanco made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Mauro Sarmento sent off a good shot on target. Santiago Blanco was out of position in the 55 minute of play, and Ronaldo Pinho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ronaldo Pinho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Júnior Alagoano kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Castanheiro SC's Jailson Esteves was substituted for Arnaldo Lago. A collision led to Castanheiro SC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Júnior Alagoano hit a great ball. 67 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goal looked a bit too open when Lino Fidencio came free, but Doni Seco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santiago Blanco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mauro Sarmento in the 71st minute. Lino Fidencio took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Doni Seco. Doni Seco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. In the 79thth minute of the game Mauro Sarmento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Santiago Blanco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mauro Sarmento in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Santiago Blanco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 88 minutes into the game, Ulisses Senna threw the ball into play from the sideline. Racing Club's Marcelino Urtzi quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Doni Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Fidencio in the 91st minute of play. Doni Seco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Fidencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
