After 28 minutes of play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Lucio Siekkötter made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Breno Vergílio charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Breno Vergílio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Olivedos booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breno Vergílio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's zone, Donato Oliveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Abel de Godoi in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esen Sanal saved S.E.R. Caxias do Sul from getting behind.
