Fire Devils's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave A.S. Udinese the free kick. In the 3rd match minute, Fire Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mitja Wollstadt to maneuver through the defense. In the 4thth minute of the game Alexander Bottone who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fire Devils's Olaf Geiger was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olaf Geiger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexander Bottone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fire Devils's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alberigo Di Franco was slow to take the kick. During this time A.S. Udinese's players had a chance to rest. In the 10th minute Dariusz Nalaskowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Alexander Bottone sped through Fire Devils's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olaf Geiger. After 17 played minutes, A.S. Udinese's Alberigo Di Franco shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Olaf Geiger came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in A.S. Udinese reached it. When A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fire Devils's goalie prevented a goal. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iosif Vornic in the 23rd minute of play. When A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fire Devils's goalie prevented a goal. Olaf Geiger stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ercole Fiorentino's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. In the 33rdth minute of the game Dariusz Nalaskowski who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Augusto Clemente hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. A.S. Udinese's Alvaro Rotili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 39th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Alexander Bottone's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 53rdth minute, Olaf Geiger skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 58th minute, A.S. Udinese's Alexander Bottone ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Olaf Geiger. Olaf Geiger yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dariusz Nalaskowski in the 71st minute of play forced A.S. Udinese's goalkeeper Alvaro Rotili to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute Mitja Wollstadt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alvaro Rotili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zlatko Ibrahimović in the 73rd minute of the match. If Iosif Vornic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dariusz Nalaskowski in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alvaro Rotili prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Merexildo Oliveras came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the A.S. Udinese fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Merexildo Oliveras couldn't finish the play. Corrado Falasca hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute Zlatko Ibrahimović shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Rotili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 92 minutes into the game, Alexander Bottone recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Olaf Geiger. Alexander Bottone showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-4. Fire Devils's Edmílson Gaúcho was substituted for Zlatko Ibrahimović. After a defensive mix-up in Fire Devils's zone, Cristiano Paolucci stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olaf Geiger came out of the goal and Cristiano Paolucci tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Cristiano Paolucci could shoot a difficult shot in the 98th minute, which Olaf Geiger however easily saved by the left post.
