Laerte Lucas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Santos Tristan made a huge save. A collision led to NeW York CitY CopS getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Gogo Rayman hit a great ball. 23 minutes into the match, NeW York CitY CopS's goalkeeper Santos Tristan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernandão Recife. The referee showed Fernandão Recife the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aldo Rito was the one to do the kick off. Bray McJon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. NeW York CitY CopS's Santos Tristan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olavo Matorin in the 80th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Aimar came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Montevideo booed when NeW York CitY CopS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alejo Beltran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilson Fernandez struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Santos Tristan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montevideo. In a very dangerous position, a player in Montevideo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 88th minute. Penalty! Ronaldo Medeiros had in the 90thth minute some difficulties stopping Venancio Fortun's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 94 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Aimar came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, NeW York CitY CopS's Ronaldo Medeiros threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rene Aimar, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
