After some careless play in the Varennes defense, Ferruccio Zarillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilberto Boone. The Varennes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilberto Boone should have stopped the shot. Gilberto Boone stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Felice Tacco's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Felice Tacco's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilberto Boone read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Maritek FC's Hélio O'Connell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erwin Gay in the 19th minute of play. Hélio O'Connell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Goudreau in the 20th minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Maritek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maurice Odonnell came free, but Hélio O'Connell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
