The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hank Blackburn struck a weak shot in the 2nd minute. András Horváth didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Markham FC. 5 minutes into the game, Szajk LC's Emánuel Hatvani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bektaş Veli Tokuz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 8 minutes into the match, Zénó Polgár notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Markham FC's Bektaş Veli Tokuz. Bektaş Veli Tokuz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. András Horváth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isto Holttinen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 13 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Markham FC's Isto Holttinen fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Szajk LC were furious when Rigoberto Balendin was red carded, 17 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 17th minute, one of Szajk LC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Szajk LC. Hank Blackburn walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Daren Kelley kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. If Emánuel Hatvani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. András Horváth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hank Blackburn in the 28th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Csongor Csorba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bektaş Veli Tokuz was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. András Horváth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isto Holttinen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 42nd minute, Markham FC's Russell Garrett seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Russell Garrett the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Markham FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Russell Garrett had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 43rd minute, Russell Garrett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute, Árpád Konkoly ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bektaş Veli Tokuz was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. After 49 minutes Markham FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lajos Józsa who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Szajk LC's Lajos Józsa to fire away a dangerous shot which Bektaş Veli Tokuz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bartolo Urtzi made a kick off. Bektaş Veli Tokuz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Csongor Csorba in the 59th minute of play. Bektaş Veli Tokuz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Árpád Konkoly, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. If Árpád Konkoly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Markham FC's Bektaş Veli Tokuz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibor Bósa in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Csongor Csorba in the 76th minute of play forced Markham FC's goalkeeper Bektaş Veli Tokuz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bektaş Veli Tokuz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Csongor Csorba, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Bektaş Veli Tokuz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Csongor Csorba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Csongor Csorba made a precise shot to the right of Bektaş Veli Tokuz. Markham FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. Hank Blackburn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but András Horváth read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Bektaş Veli Tokuz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Árpád Konkoly, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bartolo Urtzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. András Horváth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Szajk LC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
