Zamalek FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Merlin Dolan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Senio in the 10th minute of play. A collision led to Lyons getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Damian Senio hit a great ball. Virgil Calderwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Lucas Bitxintxo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amadeo Weterio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Carson Sherrill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zamalek FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carson Sherrill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lucas Bitxintxo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Damian Senio in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Merlin Dolan saved Zamalek FC from getting behind. In the 35th minute, Amadeo Weterio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Merlin Dolan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Senio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucas Bitxintxo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carson Sherrill, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Zamalek FC's zone, Baldomero Sol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Dolan came out of the goal and Baldomero Sol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th match minute, Lyons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damian Senio to maneuver through the defense. Carson Sherrill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucas Bitxintxo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Merlin Dolan made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Baldomero Sol sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Damian Senio in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Merlin Dolan saved Zamalek FC from getting behind. With a little luck, Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan got control of the ball when Damian Senio tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Zamalek FC's zone, Baldomero Sol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Dolan came out of the goal and Baldomero Sol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Merlin Dolan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Senio, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Merlin Dolan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Senio in the 93rd minute of the match. Merlin Dolan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Senio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Lyons could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zamalek FC throughout the match.
