In the 20th minute, Pedro Toledo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Marzagão fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Marzagão's Brooks Shields got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brooks Shields in the 29th minute of play forced União Agrícola Barbarense's goalkeeper Carlinhos Galvão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Marzagão were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antônio Carlos da Cunha to make the kick off. Carlos Alberto de Salles charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. If Brooks Shields had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Toledo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marzagão played a much better game than União Agrícola Barbarense and deserved their victory. The União Agrícola Barbarense players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
