The Shadows's Östen Röd played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gediminas Donskis in the 14th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 89thth minute of the game Gediminas Donskis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Shadows's Östen Röd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Manchester United F.C. booed when The Shadows was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Njurenius didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gediminas Donskis in the 92nd minute of play forced The Shadows's goalkeeper Östen Röd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tinko Havov's late challenge caught a The Shadows's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
