America De Cali's defense didn't have a chance, in the 13th minute, when Eduardo Araoz scored to the left of an out of position Kinsen Nava, making the score, 2-0. The supporters of Deportivo Messina booed when America De Cali was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eguen Amarelle didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romildo Tellez in the 18th minute of play forced Deportivo Messina's goalkeeper Agustin Maule to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Romildo Tellez was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of America De Cali booed when Deportivo Messina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonatan Huly didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute Deportivo Messina were awarded a corner. Pascual Cordarin went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Pascual Cordarin got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Kinsen Nava quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 76th minute Eduardo Araoz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kinsen Nava saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kinsen Nava showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduardo Araoz in the 81st minute of the match.
