Waldo Hills was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 38th match minute, Brooklyn SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ace Owens to maneuver through the defense. Deportivo Rodriguez's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcelo Marcello in the 41st minute. The corner ended in Marcelo Marcello almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Brooklyn SC's Frankie Gunn did a great save. The supporters of Brooklyn SC booed when Deportivo Rodriguez was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position.
