An unexpectedly hard shot by Wágner Toledo in the 46th minute of play forced Congo Bongo's goalkeeper Bernardino Nevada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When Benicio Poz fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Congo Bongo's protests and gave Benicio Poz a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes Congo Bongo got a freekick which was hit by Benicio Poz. Francisco Aparecido's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bernardino Nevada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Cacá Nascimento's late challenge caught a Congo Bongo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cacá Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. Cacá Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Lino Tonete ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Maia was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0.
