Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Per Magnusson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Manantiales Fc booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimo Vega didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Riquelme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Benigno Sabina made a huge save. Manantiales Fc's Severo Roderigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Per Magnusson in the 28th minute of play. After 30 played minutes Boca Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Bibiano Ferrer. 44 minutes into the match, Manantiales Fc's goal looked a bit too open when Calle Hellström came free, but Severo Roderigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Tobias Cuarto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Severo Roderigo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Boca Juniors's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
