After a defensive mix-up in Irreal Madrid's zone, Bengt-Åke Alkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugênio Dias came out of the goal and Bengt-Åke Alkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wiliam Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Eugênio Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Holger Springfält in the 11th minute of play. In the 15th minute Bengt-Åke Alkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugênio Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Kind of Blue getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Bengt-Åke Alkvist hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Fabiano Dracena in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Malte Siöberg saved Kind of Blue from getting behind. Edson Prestes kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. A collision led to Irreal Madrid getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Wiliam Sá hit a great ball. Eugênio Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Holger Springfält, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After a rather tough play, Kind of Blue's Edmund Skålberg got a free kick in the 30th minute. Wiliam Sá received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Malte Siöberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Holger Springfält fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Dias having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Irreal Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Bengt-Åke Alkvist came free, but Eugênio Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bengt-Åke Alkvist scored 0-1 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eugênio Dias, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Fabiano Dracena to make the kick off. A collision led to Irreal Madrid getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Edson Prestes hit a great ball. Irreal Madrid's Wiliam Sá got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Kim Samuelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Irreal Madrid's zone, Ralf Klint stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugênio Dias came out of the goal and Ralf Klint tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Malte Siöberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wiliam Sá, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Bengt-Åke Alkvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Holger Springfält fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Dias having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Luís Fabiano Dracena had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Malte Siöberg. Kind of Blue's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fabiano Dracena was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amílton Lopez during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Kind of Blue made a substitution. Samuel Asplund replaced Bengt-Åke Alkvist. A collision led to Irreal Madrid getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Amílton Lopez hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Irreal Madrid's Júnior Baiano got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Wiliam Sá might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Malte Siöberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wiliam Sá ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Irreal Madrid booed when Kind of Blue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kim Samuelsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Irreal Madrid's Eugênio Dias got control of the ball when Holger Springfält tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 95th minute, Wiliam Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Kind of Blue players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
