Henning Sæmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angelo Deunoro in the 16th minute of the match. Dimitar Berbatov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Adolfo Abar made a huge save. 21 minutes into the match, Silas Kromose notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Atlético Rio Cuarto's Adolfo Abar. Adolfo Abar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Saverio Otoniel scored 1-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Henning Sæmer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 26 minutes into the match, FC Nordsjælland's goal looked a bit too open when Angelo Deunoro came free, but Henning Sæmer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atlético Rio Cuarto's Adolfo Abar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Rio Cuarto from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Atlético Rio Cuarto getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Angelo Deunoro hit a great ball. 41 minutes into the match, Saverio Otoniel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Henning Sæmer. FC Nordsjælland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Saverio Otoniel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The supporters of Atlético Rio Cuarto booed when FC Nordsjælland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Freddie Græsborg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Angelo Deunoro made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, FC Nordsjælland's goalkeeper Henning Sæmer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Angelo Deunoro. The audience thought a goal was coming when Angelo Deunoro got free with Henning Sæmer in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dimitar Berbatov kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Angelo Deunoro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Rio Cuarto's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Deunoro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henning Sæmer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 58 minutes into the match, FC Nordsjælland's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Otoniel came free, but Henning Sæmer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitar Berbatov in the 75th minute of play forced Atlético Rio Cuarto's goalkeeper Adolfo Abar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, FC Nordsjælland's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Otoniel came free, but Henning Sæmer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bertel Holsgaard kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. A hard shot by Omar Lovagnini from long distance, 80 minutes into the match, got Henning Sæmer's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Angelo Deunoro hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Henning Sæmer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Otoniel in the 86th minute of play. If Silas Kromose had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Despite being the better team, FC Nordsjælland failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
