After 7 minutes, Leo Victoro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Independiente and the Olivedos players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeledon Sazon in the 11th minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Patrick Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patrick Miranda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeledon Sazon in the 11th minute of the match. After 14 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Victor Henric. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Lorenzo Vincent successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 16th match minute, Olivedos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dário Viana to maneuver through the defense. Independiente's Lorenzo Vincent played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson Mendes in the 18th minute of play. Patrick Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Gorosti in the 20th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Olivedos's Paulo Renato Galvão got a free kick in the 21st minute. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Edson Mendes took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Lorenzo Vincent to make any attempt to save it. After some careless play in the Olivedos defense, Leo Victoro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrick Miranda. The Olivedos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick Miranda should have stopped the shot. After 33 played minutes Olivedos got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carlos Valadares. After 36 played minutes Olivedos got a freekick which was hit by Doni Senna. Patrick Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Sazon in the 39th minute of play. In the 42ndth minute of the game Nestor Erdiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Olivedos's Patrick Miranda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antônio Carlos Valadares was the one to do the kick off. When Olivedos's Edson Mendes in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 82nd minute of the match, Zeledon Sazon got a very nice opportunity to score, but Patrick Miranda was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Patrick Miranda successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 91 played minutes Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Feliciano Jaunti. Patrick Miranda was a little too slow when Feliciano Jaunti got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 94th minute. The score was now 1-3.
