The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ingvar Nordkvist during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. DIF LEEDS BK's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 11 minutes into the match, DIF LEEDS BK's goal looked a bit too open when Grigoris Kasnakidis came free, but Vidar Walroth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Alexandros Vikelidis came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Sheriff fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandros Vikelidis couldn't finish the play. Dimitris Kapopoulos scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vidar Walroth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of DIF LEEDS BK booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimitris Kapopoulos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th match minute, Sheriff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stamatis Kaldelis to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute, Alexandros Vikelidis made a precise shot to the right of Vidar Walroth. DIF LEEDS BK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 32 played minutes DIF LEEDS BK got a freekick which was hit by Ingvar Nordkvist. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexandros Vikelidis in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vidar Walroth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vidar Walroth came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Sheriff's Alexandros Vikelidis. But to his dismay, Alexandros Vikelidis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The supporters of DIF LEEDS BK booed when Sheriff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimitris Kapopoulos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goalkeeper Manos Melogiannis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Holger Lidström. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Alexandros Vikelidis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Grigoris Kasnakidis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, DIF LEEDS BK's goal looked a bit too open when Dimitris Kapopoulos came free, but Vidar Walroth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. DIF LEEDS BK's Vidar Walroth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandros Vikelidis in the 65th minute of play. After 66 played minutes DIF LEEDS BK got a freekick which was hit by Åke Eliasson. Vidar Walroth was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Panos Zervidis. In the 67th minute, Åke Eliasson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vidar Walroth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandros Vikelidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to DIF LEEDS BK getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Ingvar Nordkvist hit a great ball. A hard shot by Panos Zervidis from long distance, 83 minutes into the match, got Vidar Walroth's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 85 minutes into the match, Sheriff's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Nordkvist came free, but Manos Melogiannis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sheriff's Manos Melogiannis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ingvar Nordkvist in the 85th minute of play. In the 89th match minute, DIF LEEDS BK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Britz to maneuver through the defense. In the 92nd minute, Dimitris Kapopoulos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vidar Walroth was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Sheriff's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
