Bebeto Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 14th minute Abel Ferdinand shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Furtado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abel Ferdinand charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abel Ferdinand the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Abel Ferdinand kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. André Luiz Esteves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 21st minute, Bebeto Leal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Joinville Esporte Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Victor Nofre was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but André Luiz Esteves showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 24 minute of play. Faustino Charro's late challenge caught a Joinville Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some careless play in the Joinville Esporte Clube defense, Ramiro Estavan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hélio Furtado. The Joinville Esporte Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hélio Furtado should have stopped the shot. Hélio Furtado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severo Amato went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

In the 52nd minute, Luisinho Lira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Victor Nofre was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. In the 62nd minute, Severo Amato reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hélio Furtado. The goal made the score 3-4. Victor Nofre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fellipe Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Joinville Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Hélio Furtado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Estavan. Joinville Esporte Clube were furious when Júlio Valladares was red carded, 76 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Hélio Furtado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severo Amato went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-5 was the resulting score. After 91 played minutes Deportivo Tachito got a freekick which was hit by Abel Ferdinand. Severo Amato did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-6 to the left of a surprised Hélio Furtado 96 minutes into the match. Deportivo Tachito's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
