Rodney Urbina started the match with the kick off. Ján Kortiš sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Václav Židek managed to avoid a goal in the 11thth minute, when C. A. Independiente's Rodney Urbina fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 22nd minute Samo Beck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Ángel Santoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, C. A. Independiente's Guy Becerra got a free kick in the 25th minute. C. A. Independiente's Miguel Ángel Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dušan Engler in the 26th minute of play. Miguel Ángel Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ján Kortiš, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Ľubomír Pittner managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Kukova's supporters rose to their feet, but Ľubomír Pittner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miguel Ángel Santoro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the match, FC Kukova's goalkeeper Václav Židek had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rodney Urbina. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ľubomír Pittner was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, Ľubomír Pittner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Miguel Ángel Santoro came out of the goal and Ľubomír Pittner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 57 played minutes C. A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Guy Becerra. Ľubomír Pittner's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Miguel Ángel Santoro firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ľubomír Pittner struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Miguel Ángel Santoro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Kukova. In the 63rd minute Rodney Urbina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Václav Židek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Václav Židek stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Conrad Carrington's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. When the match clock showed 65 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Conrad Carrington sped through FC Kukova's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Václav Židek. Róbert Hargaš made in the 71st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by C. A. Independiente's Guy Becerra. After 80 minutes of play C. A. Independiente's Guy Becerra was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of FC Kukova booed when C. A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guy Becerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Ján Kortiš in the 82nd minute really tested Miguel Ángel Santoro's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 82nd match minute, FC Kukova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samo Beck to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th minute, Samo Beck made a precise shot to the right of Miguel Ángel Santoro. C. A. Independiente's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Miguel Ángel Santoro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miroslav Kuzmány in the 88th minute of the match. Samo Beck could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Miguel Ángel Santoro made a huge save. Miroslav Kuzmány received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Miguel Ángel Santoro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Kukova were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing C. A. Independiente to leave the ground with a draw.
