The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goal looked a bit too open when Nicu Olăroiu came free, but Jurjen van der Gun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 7th minute Nicu Olăroiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jurjen van der Gun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute, Nicu Olăroiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jurjen van der Gun was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 11 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goal looked a bit too open when Nicu Olăroiu came free, but Jurjen van der Gun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jurjen van der Gun was a little too slow when Răzvan Geolgău got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 3-0. The supporters of Seagulls booed when Granicerul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorel Albescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 minutes of play, Seagulls's Jacco Bouwman made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Toader Almăgean was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Răzvan Geolgău had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacco Bouwman in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Toader Almăgean saved Granicerul from getting behind. In the 34th minute, Răzvan Geolgău ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jurjen van der Gun was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. 37 minutes into the game, Joep Haremeijer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Seagulls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Granicerul the free kick. In the 37th minute, one of Seagulls:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Seagulls. Nicu Olăroiu shot the penalty kick right outside the post. 40 minutes into the match, Granicerul's goal looked a bit too open when Jacco Bouwman came free, but Toader Almăgean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Toader Almăgean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacco Bouwman in the 42nd minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jacco Bouwman was the one to do the kick off. Toader Almăgean showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ton Stolte, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 68 played minutes Seagulls got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Busch. In the 71st minute Nicolae Stan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jurjen van der Gun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Dorel Albescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute, Jacco Bouwman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacco Bouwman succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 4-3 in the 87th playminute. Seagulls's Jurjen van der Gun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Răzvan Geolgău in the 92nd minute of play. Toader Almăgean was out of position in the 95 minute of play, and Bill Dol capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Bill Dol really showed his touch with that goal: 4-4. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
