In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sliema Dragons FC's goalkeeper John Balzan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Estación Q.'s Pastor Huly played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Bailey in the 7th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Estación Q.'s Arsenio Gaspard got a free kick in the 13th minute. John Balzan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaac Nayely, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Hermengildo Lorencio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving John Balzan. That made the score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. Pastor Huly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Galdes, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 27th match minute, Estación Q. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andres Chuan to maneuver through the defense. Pastor Huly came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Sliema Dragons FC's Samuel Galdes. But to his dismay, Samuel Galdes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Lorencio in the 34th minute of play forced Sliema Dragons FC's goalkeeper John Balzan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 minutes, Moises Erruki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Estación Q. and the Sliema Dragons FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Samuel Galdes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 46th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pastor Huly. Estación Q.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hermengildo Lorencio to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Sliema Dragons FC got a freekick which was hit by Marc Xuereb. In the 52nd minute of the match Blas Umbruso shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but John Balzan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Filiberto Isauro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estación Q.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Filiberto Isauro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John Balzan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 59 minutes into the game, Hermengildo Lorencio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. John Balzan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. John Balzan came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Estación Q.'s Ambrosio Matxin. But to his dismay, Ambrosio Matxin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Pastor Huly made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mark Cassar Torreggiani in the 69th minute.
