The supporters of Ágætis Byrjun booed when Australian Youth Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rod Keato didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 4th minute, Maurice Haydon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rick Thomas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 6 played minutes Australian Youth Academy got a freekick which was hit by Dakota Gaffigan. In the 8th minute Gerrie Kuijsten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 9 minutes into the game, Jonathan Hollander was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ágætis Byrjun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Australian Youth Academy the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ágætis Byrjun's Jonathan Hollander got a free kick in the 9th minute. 12 minutes into the game, Laurens Waterman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ágætis Byrjun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Australian Youth Academy the free kick. In the 13th minute, Alan Tresise sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ágætis Byrjun's Serge Buring didn't even have to move. Casper Keato scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Serge Buring, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dakota Gaffigan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serge Buring having to interfere. Rod Keato recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rod Keato got free with Serge Buring in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 34 minutes into the game, Jurgen Oorschot was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ágætis Byrjun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Australian Youth Academy the free kick. The audience cheered loudly when Alan Tresise's long shot in the 35th minute became 2-1 when the ball went to the left of and passed Serge Buring. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Gerrie Kuijsten made the kick off in the second half. Australian Youth Academy's Rick Thomas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Australian Youth Academy from getting a goal against them. In the 58th minute Maurice Haydon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rick Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dakota Gaffigan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Serge Buring having to interfere. Laurens Waterman got his second yellow card in the match during the 72nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Laurens Waterman hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. After 73 played minutes Ágætis Byrjun got a freekick which was hit by Bertus Wagemakers. In the 79th match minute, Ágætis Byrjun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrie Kuijsten to maneuver through the defense. Serge Buring stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Casper Keato's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Rick Thomas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerrie Kuijsten in the 82nd minute. In the 87th match minute, Ágætis Byrjun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mathijs Looze to maneuver through the defense. When Casper Keato fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Australian Youth Academy's protests and gave Casper Keato a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Australian Youth Academy's Casper Keato got a free kick in the 89th minute.
