The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes, Jeremias Paul mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Gallardeta and the Estudiantes de América players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jeremias Paul hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Prospero Abadia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Flores in the 8th minute of play. Felipe Flores sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Estudiantes de América's Prospero Abadia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Flores in the 11th minute of play. During the 47th minute of the match Marcos Madeo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Marcos Madeo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when La Gallardeta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcos Madeo didn't get a good kick on the ball.

After a rather tough play, La Gallardeta's Casimiro Erramun got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 60 minutes into the game, Orlando Hori was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. After a rather tough play, La Gallardeta's Apolo Naelio got a free kick in the 69th minute. 70 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Ado came free, but Paulo Romelio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Estudiantes de América reached it. After 95 played minutes La Gallardeta got a freekick which was hit by Narciso Matteo. The supporters of La Gallardeta booed when Estudiantes de América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvano Guib didn't get a good kick on the ball. Estudiantes de América were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of La Gallardeta for a fine match.
