If Angel Mantzio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angel Mantzio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prospero Abadia having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Benicio Perfecto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Prospero Abadia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 14 minutes, Gustavo Bautista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Estudiantes de América and the Defensores del Tiki Tiki players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Estudiantes de América getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Gustavo Bautista hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes de América's zone, Mario Chabier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Prospero Abadia came out of the goal and Mario Chabier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 22 minutes into the game, Teodoro Lluciano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Defensores del Tiki Tiki's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Estudiantes de América the free kick. In the 24th minute, Teodoro Lluciano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when Defensores del Tiki Tiki was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bell Stringer didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Lino Ekialde came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Estudiantes de América fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lino Ekialde couldn't finish the play. With his leg Eliseo Elija managed to avoid a goal in the 36thth minute, when Estudiantes de América's Gustavo Bautista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Angel Mantzio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Prospero Abadia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute Mario Chabier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prospero Abadia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Estudiantes de América players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Defensores del Tiki Tiki were winning 0-2.

Estudiantes de América's Prospero Abadia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Estudiantes de América from getting a goal against them. Ildefonso Balesio charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ildefonso Balesio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 98 minutes, Bernabe Francis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Defensores del Tiki Tiki and the Estudiantes de América players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 98th match minute, Defensores del Tiki Tiki was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernabe Francis to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Defensores del Tiki Tiki eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
