In the 5thth minute of the game Csaba Kormos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Paralia Athens's Cristian Nicolescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 13 played minutes, Phoenix Fireball SE's László Sári shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cristian Nicolescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Phoenix Fireball SE reached it. The supporters of Phoenix Fireball SE booed when Paralia Athens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gelu Verzea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petre Maghiran's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but György Solti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Phoenix Fireball SE's Egon Sinka got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Nicolescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from József Tóth in the 36th minute of the match. Ottó Makkai took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cristian Nicolescu. Paralia Athens's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 46th minute, Egon Sinka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristian Nicolescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Csaba Kormos to make the kick off. Paralia Athens's Cristian Nicolescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by József Tóth in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Egon Sinka cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Cristian Nicolescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iordache Ţugui kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. If Csaba Kormos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Paralia Athens's Cristian Nicolescu got control of the ball when Csaba Kormos tried to sneak it across the goal line.
