After 14 minutes, Matthias Vrijdags mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Stadtclub and the Clube Atlético Mineiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. Matthias Vrijdags hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the game, Clube Atlético Mineiro's Téo Couto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fabio Hesse made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 27 played minutes Clube Atlético Mineiro got a freekick which was hit by Dalmo Ramos. Lamine Yambao struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Fabio Hesse didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube Atlético Mineiro. Moisés Donatello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horatio Tobler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Beat Hagenbuch's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Moisés Donatello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Clube Atlético Mineiro's Moisés Donatello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horatio Tobler in the 65th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horatio Tobler in the 67th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Mineiro's goalkeeper Moisés Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Stadtclub's Matthias Vrijdags quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Romário Ronaldo, made in the 70th minute of the game. Moisés Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Beat Hagenbuch, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 86th minute, Beat Hagenbuch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Clube Atlético Mineiro getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Dalmo Ramos hit a great ball. FC Stadtclub's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
