Iker Casillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronaldo Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 17th minute, Dário Martins made a precise shot to the right of Iker Casillas. Villa Gordiani's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Dário Martins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iker Casillas having to interfere. Ferreira Lopes MZC's Ronaldo Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomé Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arrigo Marrone in the 25th minute. 31 minutes into the game, Ferreira Lopes MZC's Ronaldo Alcântara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iker Casillas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The supporters of Villa Gordiani booed when Ferreira Lopes MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedé Paiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomé Montenegro was out of position in the 35 minute of play, and Arrigo Marrone capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Arrigo Marrone really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Villa Gordiani:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ferreira Lopes MZC:s goal. Disappointed in the 1-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Villa Gordiani's Natã de Salles was substituted for Arrigo Marrone. In the 53rd minute, Villa Gordiani's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dário Martins fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 55 minutes into the match, Ferreira Lopes MZC's Ronaldo Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iker Casillas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ove Bergman in the 64th minute of play forced Ferreira Lopes MZC's goalkeeper Tomé Montenegro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Villa Gordiani's goalkeeper Iker Casillas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sidnei Bertassi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A hard shot 74 in the game by Dário Martins from a close distance when the talented Iker Casillas managed to make a qualified save. Villa Gordiani's players were relieved. Dedé Paiva hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Ronaldo Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Iker Casillas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dário Martins got free with Iker Casillas in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Natã de Salles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A nice corner shot did that Dedé Paiva got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Iker Casillas quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Iker Casillas made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Ali Kağan Erol sent off a good shot on target. Ronaldo Alcântara's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iker Casillas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. The Ferreira Lopes MZC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ferreira Lopes MZC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
