After taking down the ball on Club El Progreso's corner Diego Portela fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Carlos Carioca quite easily take care of the ball. Benjamin Tino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Adolfo Goiano's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. In the 39th of the match, Zé Carlos Velasco tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Benjamin Tino got in the way and made a wonderful save. Indiana Jones's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Carioca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Club El Progreso's Benjamin Tino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Club El Progreso from getting a goal against them. 46 minutes into the match, Club El Progreso's goalkeeper Benjamin Tino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emiel Franckx. The Club El Progreso supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club El Progreso would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
