In the 8th minute Maximino Lope shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florentino Herauso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Polo Quinteros in the 10th minute of play forced El retorno del Pincha's goalkeeper André Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Levan Poggenborg came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Santa Lucia de Merlo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Levan Poggenborg couldn't finish the play. Polo Quinteros scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of André Zonta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Levan Poggenborg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pedro Brion hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. When Maximino Lope, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 32 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Florentino Herauso was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 34 minutes into the game, El retorno del Pincha's Armando Inautzi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Florentino Herauso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Florentino Herauso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abelardo Abechuco, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Ernesto Tristezza kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Santa Lucia de Merlo's M. Agus Young was substituted for Polo Quinteros. An unexpectedly hard shot by M. Agus Young in the 50th minute of play forced El retorno del Pincha's goalkeeper André Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven Thorsberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After recieving a nice pass, Santa Lucia de Merlo's Arnaldo Chano tried to score from far away in the 54th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Thorsberg in the 60th minute of play forced Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper Florentino Herauso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Ernesto Tristezza in the 64th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Santa Lucia de Merlo's Alvaro Llorienzo. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Levan Poggenborg managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Ernesto Tristezza in the 67 minute of the game. M. Agus Young succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 67th playminute. After having played for 71 minutes, Levan Poggenborg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santa Lucia de Merlo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Levan Poggenborg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sven Thorsberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Florentino Herauso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. El retorno del Pincha were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Santa Lucia de Merlo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mercado Paulista took the corner. After 80 played minutes Santa Lucia de Merlo got a freekick which was hit by Doctor Paredes. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper Florentino Herauso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Florentino Herauso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sven Thorsberg's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. El retorno del Pincha's André Zonta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save El retorno del Pincha from getting a goal against them. Doctor Paredes kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. 96 minutes into the game, M. Agus Young cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. André Zonta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The El retorno del Pincha supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Santa Lucia de Merlo's performance. The match ended with a win for Santa Lucia de Merlo.
