The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The supporters of Roncourt booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gláuber Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esen Sanal acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 21st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Marouane Kiefer. In the 34th minute, Ricardinho de Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Esen Sanal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from J.P. Kapar in the 36th minute of the match. Esen Sanal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from J.P. Kapar in the 38th minute of play. Mounir Perry took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucio Siekkötter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Roncourt's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lei Feng Yan took the corner.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell J.P. Kapar to make the kick off. Roncourt's Alex Baudino quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. J.P. Kapar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Esen Sanal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Tarcisio Mangueira made in the 94th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ricardinho de Senna immediately put the ball in play. After some careless play in the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul defense, J.P. Kapar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Esen Sanal. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Esen Sanal should have stopped the shot. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
